While I am preparing for the photo shoot day, I have looked at different promotion methods of music groups, specifically the South Korea star marketing, because South Korea is famous for star culture, and big entertainment companies like JYP, YG, SM etc. People called them the ‘Stars Factory’. For example, the two most successful K-pop groups BTS and Blackpink have great influence all over the world.
BTS is a seven members boys band under Big Hit Entertainment. On the official Instagram page, the account posted 747 posts in total, the profile picture is simply the logo, also the band name. The font of the logo is quite concise. To promote the new album ‘Life Goes on’, they put the album name on the bio, and announced people the release. Also, there is a link below, that people could easily access.
In terms of the posts, the layout is quite different to the others, that used one section, consist of 9 posts to introduce each member, which give a bigger visual impact.
More than that, the official account posted a large version of the album.
For Blackpink, even though it is a Female K-pop band, I think the promotion on Instagram is very successful, and it is a great example to learn from. Blackpink is formed by YG Entertainment, consisting of four members, they are Jennie Kim, Lisa, Rose, Jisoo. Each member has particular part in the group. Before the album release, they uploaded count down posts until the release day.
For example, the release day of ‘The album’ is 26th June 2020 6pm, they posted 36 posts, and put the count down day on the images, and hashtag every member and the song name.
Also, the account posted the celebration posts, for example ‘As if it’s your last’ reached 900 million views on YouTube.
